Secrets of the Job Hunt Career Podcast

Career Advice Podcasts & Job Seeker Network

Hi All,

Firstly I feel slightly embarrassed as a newbie asking for help, but I'll certainly be contributing to this network in the future.

I thought I'd ask for help to see if anyone would like to try out a new site called skillslog.com that has just launched. Skills Log is a professional development network where people can create an interactive résumé by logging their skills (and how proficient they are), experience and education. Users can search skills of colleagues and contacts, search skills to learn based on their occupation, pull in resources from delicious.com and Flickr and more. Going forward we'll offer integration into Facebook, linkedIn and others so users can showcase their skills.

Ultimately we're aiming the site at job hunters - we aim to offer unparalleled matching of people to jobs. Current job sites allow keyword matching, with little or no weighting given to proficiency or preferred keywords. With Skills Log people have indicated not just what they can do, but how good they are, and which are their key skills. This means we can match people to jobs with unprecedented accuracy.

We're launching as a 'private beta' for a short period so we can get some targeted feedback before opening fully to the public. You'll therefore need an invite code to take a look at the site, so I've set up a specific invite code 'secretsofthejobhunt' (can be used 100 times) that you'll need to enter during registration.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - how do you find the site as an interactive résumé? Do you have any thoughts on the site as a job hunting tool?

Thanks and regards,
Chris Dunst
