- My friends call me Elly May because I love my "critters" - dogs, cats, fish, turtles, frogs. My colleagues call me a communications expert and mentor/go-to person in the area of professional resume development.
My passion is creating - just about anything: written materials, gourmet meals, graphic designs, dinner parties, marketing content, processes, job aids, strategies, action plans, funny t-shirts, poetry.
My professional specialty is the creation and development of executive-level resumes. I'm a certified professional resume writer (CPRW) and certified career development facilitator (CDF).
I've been a career management consultant in the outplacement industry since 1997. Prior to that, I held managerial, international sales, customer service, and production control positions in Fortune 500 manufacturing as well as local construction.
I've always been blessed with a gift for writing ... and I've swung a hammer, milled lumber/caught boards (in the rain), and run power tools (favorite tool is a palm nailer) and a front end loader. As a production planner for a large industrial manufacturer, I had a desk in the factory and loved seeing how things were made and getting to know the union personnel.
I believe in P words - preparation, perspective, passion, prayer, positive focus - and C words - creativity, communication, credibility, compassion.
I'm happiest when I'm helping people, creating, communicating, and exercising my sense of humor - and in heaven when I get to do them all simultaneously.
